Are you ready to do the Time Warp again? It has been announced that former Nickelodeon star Victoria Justice has been cast as ‘Janet Weiss’ in Fox TV’s remake of The Rocky Horror Picture Show!
Due to air in the fall, Justice will star alongside Disney’s Ryan McCartan who will play ‘Brad Majors’. The Rocky Horror Picture Show follows sweethearts Janet and Brad who stumble upon Dr. Frank-N-Furter, who is holding an annual Transylvanian science convention to showcase the birth of “Rocky Horror”.
It was also announced that Penny Dreadful’s Reeve Carney will play ‘Riff Raff’, one of Dr. Frank-N-Furter’s loyal servants whilst the role of ‘Rocky Horror’ goes to Staz Nair. Rising star Nair will also be appearing in Game of Thrones soon, however, some eagle-eyed X Factor fans may already recognise him from his time in the band, Times Red.
It was previously announced that Orange Is The New Black’s Laverne Cox will be taking on the role of scientist and self-described “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania”, Dr. Frank-N-Furter. Lou Adler, Gail Berman and Kenny Ortega are named as executive producers and the two-hour TV special will also be directed and choreographed by Ortega.
The original movie starred Susan Sarandon and Barry Bostwick and is one of the longest-running releases in film history, celebrating 40 years of theatrical distribution. As one of the most popular films of all time, it still plays in film theatres around the world.
We’re already super excited about this remake and can’t wait to see the first costume pictures once filming starts later this year!
