At the beginning of March we told you that one half of Ward Thomas, Lizzy had confirmed that the country music duo would soon be releasing an EP containing covers of some of their favourite tracks and now less than a month on the girls have officially released the record titled ‘A Shorter Story’.
The EP contains a collection of five sublime songs that Ward Thomas perform impeccably as they put their own unique twist on the classic tracks.
Speaking to Vents Magazine about their new release, twin sisters Catherine and Lizzy who recently turned 23, said: “We’ve been playing around with cover versions as part of our acoustic Snug Sessions videos for a few years now and mostly they have gone down really well. We recorded the EP over two days and have tried to bring something new and different to each song whilst at the same time respecting the original versions. Hopefully people like them!”
The new collection once again shines a very bright light on Ward Thomas’ divine sibling harmonies as they put their own personal stamp on some of the most famous songs ever released.
During the five piece EP, Ward Thomas cover Damien Rice’s ‘The Blower’s Daughter’, Justin Timberlake’s ‘What Goes Around Comes Around, Years and Years’ ‘Shine’, Crowded House’s ‘Better Be Home Soon’, and Kings of Leon’s ‘Walls’.
The fact that they have taken the leap to cover some huge tracks from a variety of artists and genre’s proves that they have a wonderfully unique talent that allows them to make any song seem like they have written it themselves.
Ward Thomas’ new EP ‘A Shorter Story‘ is out now! Make sure you catch them on tour this April and May. Tickets are on sale now.
