A future collaboration is just waiting to happen, as rising popstar Allegra shared a stunning rendition of Lewis Capaldi’s smash single “Someone You Loved”.
The cover comes after Allegra dominated the charts with her own original music. At the beginning of 2019, the young singer-songwriter stormed Billboard and Music Week charts with her dance-pop breakout “All About Us”, which was accompanied by an equally bold and dynamic music video. Afterward, Allegra released a trail of cover songs with YouTuber and music mastermind Kurt Hugo Schneider. The duo covered Taylor Swift’s “Lover” and Selena Gomez’s “Lose You To Love Me”. Flying solo for now, Allegra showed Lewis Capaldi some love in her latest cover for “Someone You Loved”.
The live video from Los Angeles opens with Allegra front and centre of the camera’s attention backed by a band of singers. Her luscious vocals put a new spin on Capaldi’s original release, as she sang the beautiful lyrics, “Now, the day bleeds into nightfall/ And you’re not here to get me through it all/ I let my guard down and then you pulled the rug/ I was getting kinda used to being someone you loved”. Cutting to close up shots of Allegra deep in thought, the connection created by Allegra’s ethereal presence, elegant tone, and Capaldi’s heartfelt lyrics is one that is truly unbreakable.
Allegra is clearly an artist who has her head set firmly on her shoulders. It’s a combination of her striking a balance between carefully putting a fresh spin on currently charting tracks to crafting original youthful music that sets Allegra apart from the competition, something surely set to continue on into 2020.
