Katherine Cooper, 24 from Durham, is nominating her mother Suzanne Cooper, 53, for her unstoppable drive to help others at home, in the community and further afield in Kenya.
Suzanne and her husband, Les, 57 have been married for 32 years. Unfortunately in 1992 a strain was put on the family, as Les feel incredibly ill. Les became dependent on Suzanne to take care of him and their two children. Luckily he is now on the road to recovery but the family have been through a lot.
After Les was able to immerse himself back into family life, him and his son became members of the local football club. Les became the volunteer manager and Suzanne and Katherine ran the tuck shop to raise money for the club. Unfortunately in 2003 one of the mothers of the boys at the football club passed away leaving six children behind. Suzanne took in the 6 children and cared for them as if they were her own.
Her kindness didn’t stop there. Suzanne fundraises for her local hospice and takes part in the yearly ‘Memory Walk’ to raise money for the Alzheimer’s Society. She has also traveled to Kenya to help families there.
Also on tonight’s show two rugby fans who devote their time to raising money for local children’s charities in Bristol get a wonderful surprise as they meet England rugby hero Ben Cohen and get the chance to meet the England Rugby team.
