Fans were treated to their first look at the film back in December 2016, when a short teaser trailer was released.
Soundtracked by The Beatles song ‘Because’, viewers saw DeHaan and Delevingne battling their way through space and Rihanna playing a dancing alien interspersed with images of some of the comics most icon characters.
Valerian director Besson explained to Cinema Blend how he was able to use a Beatles songs in the movies trailer, as this is the first time that a non-cover track from the Liverpudlian band has been licensed for use in a trailer.
“I just asked! We reached out to Paul McCartney, and he asked, ‘What is the film?’ and then he said yes!”
“I never met him – I wish I could, to thank him.”
“From what I heard, he’s seen a couple of my films – and because he’s from U.K. and I’m from France, we’re both from Europe, so maybe a little closer.”
The Beatles ‘Because’ again acts as the soundtrack in the new Valerian trailer, which showcases more of the dynamic between lead characters Valerian and Laureline, played by DeHaan and Delevigne.
Rihanna, who plays Bubble (a shapeshifting entertainer) in the film, is also seen in the clip.
Dressed in a black bowler hat, waistcoat, shorts and suspenders the singer then morphs into a nurse wearing a PVC uniform, hat and stethoscope.
Valerian is set for release in the UK on August 4th 2017.
