It’s fair to say Britney Spears’ new video has had a mixed reaction.
Fans of the pop princess have criticised the clip for her new single, which serves as the lead from new album Glory, for being “boring” and not matching the song… but it wasn’t the video that fans were supposed to see.
According to reports, the original video for Make Me was labelled ‘too sexual’, so Britney decided to reshoot the video with a different director.
This isn’t the first time Britney has cancelled one of her videos.
Speaking at the time of her Work Bitch release, Britney said: “Oh my god, we showed way more skin and did way more stuff for the video than what is actually there.
“Like, I cut out half the video because I am a mother and because, you know, I have children, and it’s just hard to play sexy mom while you’re being a pop star as well.
She added: “A lot of sex goes into what I do, but sometimes I would like to bring it back to the old days when there was like one outfit through the whole video, and you’re dancing the whole video, and there’s like not that much sex stuff going on.”
The official music video, which premiered just days ago, has sparked criticism from fans across the globe, with one starting a petition to release the original video.
Snippets from the original video have now leaked online. Watch the clip below, and let us know what you think over on @CelebMix.
