With Creed II just around the corner, we decided to take a look at everything we know about the upcoming movie so far, and share with you our thoughts on the first two trailers.
The rise in sports culture
Creed II is just one of many sports movies in recent times, as Hollywood begins to understand just how lucrative the market is. Indeed, we’re seeing a huge rise in sports-related content not only on the big screen but online with YouTube exploding with new material. What’s more, online sports betting bookmakers have cited a huge increase in engagement, perhaps in thanks to events like NXT TakeOver: WarGames and WWE Survivor Series, which are bringing sports fans together and encouraging them to get involved in the action. Sport has never been so fun.
What do we know about Creed II so far?
Creed II follows on from 2015’s popular Creed movie and is written by Sylvester Stallone and Juel Taylor. The film is actually the eighth installment in the Rocky film series and stars the likes of Michael B. Jordan, Sylvester Stallone, Tessa Thompson, Dolph Lundgren, Florian Munteanu, Phylicia Rashad, Andre Ward, Wood Harris, Brigitte Nielsen and Milo Ventimiglia. The script for the second movie was completed in the summer of 2017, and filming began in March 2018 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, completing three months later in June.
The trailer for the sequel was released earlier in the year, and we now know that the movie will be released in theatres November 21st. A second trailer was released last month and features a scene showing Rocky and Ivan come face to face again after 33 years – a thrilling moment.
What is Creed II about?
The film is centered around Adonis Creed, who has his own personal obligations and is working hard to train for his upcoming fight. Only, unlike previous fights, this match will see Creed battle it out against an opponent that has strong ties to his family, which of course makes the challenge even more emotional. Rocky Balboa is back for the sequel, too, offering support to Creed, and helping him realize that family always has to come first.
