Wolf Alice have scored a UK Number One album with their bold new record ‘The Clearing’, cementing their reputation as one of Britain’s most vital guitar bands.
The London four-piece’s fourth studio album shot straight to the top of the Official UK Albums Chart, making it their second consecutive Number One after 2021’s ‘Blue Weekend’. The record also dominated the Vinyl Albums Chart, proving their mix of nostalgia-drenched melodies and sharp pop instincts has real staying power in a streaming-driven era.
Produced by Grammy heavyweight Greg Kurstin, and featuring the singles ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, ‘The Sofa’ and ‘White Horses’, the bold collection sees the band dive into a lush, 1970s-infused sound that nods to Fleetwood Mac and Kate Bush while keeping the grit that’s always made them stand out.
Critical reaction has been strong across the board, earning five-star reviews from the likes of NME, DIY and Dork, with Rolling Stone UK praising their “new sound that’s more confident than ever” and Mojo declaring it “Wolf Alice’s best yet.”
Speaking about the LP’s success, the group said: “Thanks so much to everyone that’s gone out and bought a copy of ‘The Clearing’, we are so proud of this album and love y’all a lot. Gonna drink 69 beers in Leipzig tonight. NUMBER 1?!!?!!!”
The chart victory caps off a whirlwind week of celebrations: a sold-out, sweat-soaked album launch at Camden’s iconic Dublin Castle — live-streamed worldwide via TikTok — a stateside turn onJimmy Kimmel Live! where they debuted lead single ‘Bloom Baby Bloom’, and a stop at Radio 1’s Live Lounge to deliver a stripped-back cover of Olivia Dean’s ‘Nice To Eachother’ (watch the full session HERE).
The band now look ahead to their biggest ever global headline tour, kicking off next month across North America before heading to Europe, UK and Ireland, and including a landmark night at London’s O2 Arena this December. Tickets for all dates are on sale now.
