The producer of X-Men, Simon Kinberg has officially confirmed that Wolverine 3 has begun filming! This film is going to bittersweet to watch as it will be Hugh Jackman’s last performance as Wolverine and Kinberg has promised this movie will stand out from the previous films.
“It’s a very radical, bold, different Wolverine than you’ve ever seen in any of these movies,” he told Collider.
However, he did not confirm whether Patrick Stewart will be returning to reprise his role as Professor X but he was able to confirm that Wolverine 3 has been given the go ahead to be R-rated just like his character in the comics.
“I’m not sure what I’m allowed to say about that,” Kingberg said. “I will agree with you that Patrick Stewart was rumoured to be a part of that film. It takes place in the future, and as you and others have reported, it is an R-rated movie. It’s violent, it’s kind of like a western in its tone. It’s just a very cool, different film.”
With this in mind, there are rumours that the movie will be based on Mark Millar and Steve McNiven’s 2008-2009 ‘Old Man Logan‘ story which does involve Logan/Wolverine travelling cross-country in a dystopian future where the supervillains have won and at the moment, this is looking likely much to the delight of fans!
Whatever the film’s storyline, we will be sad to see Hugh play Wolverine for the very last time but we are excited to see what is next for the fan’s favourite.
