X Factor recently began on Saturday 29th August and hit off with a great start. The six chair challenge has been brought back to this year’s show however there have been a few changes since last year. The first change being the bringing back of live auditions rather than the room auditions they had last year. The biggest change, which has never occured in the history of X Factor, is the viewers choosing the judges categories via Twitter with a choice of up to sixteen hashtags.
Each of the judges have had their say in which category they would preferably like to mentor this year. The first judge to voice his preferred category was Simon Cowell who tweeted “it would be great to mentor the groups.” Later on he insisted that the “girls need an expert” and he’d also “love to mentor the girls this year.”
Simon wasn’t the only judge who was after the groups – both Cheryl Fernandez-Versini and newcomer Nick Grimshaw were also after the groups category. Newcomer to the show Rita Ora expressed an interest in the girls category.
Simon did go on to tweet that he would be “keen to see how another judge would do with the overs this year” after he mentored the overs category last year with runner up Fleur East and winner Ben Haenow.
The X Factor judge categories have recently been announced. It has finally been revealed that Simon has the overs category, Cheryl has the groups category, Rita has the girls category and Nick has the boys category. Simon tweeted saying that the overs category “wasn’t the category he was expecting.”
