This week saw actor and now singer, Zach Callison, drop his second single, titled “Curtain Call”. It runs on the theme of “Juanita” who also appeared in the previous single. His debut single release was “War!” which was out earlier this year.
You may recognise Zach Callison from his many TV appearances, or maybe you’ll recognise his voice from his animated portrayal of characters. He’s best known for playing Steven Universe in the animated TV programme of the same name. He was also in the animated Disney TV show Sofia The First, where he played Prince James. You may have seen him in Just Add Magic and The Goldbergs where he played recurring and guest characters Chuck Hankins and Brian Corbett respectively. He also appeared in the web series Diary of a Single Mom. He’s also appeared in Hannah Montana, Perfect Couples, NCIS: Los Angeles, and I’m in the Band.
Recently, he has been focusing on his music career, and his debut single “War!” became quite the hit, with over 100,000 streams on Spotify. He has followed it up this week with the release of “Curtain Call” – produced by Chase Ryan, Anthony Mazza, and Zach Callison – which definitely shows his versatility since it is very different to his first single. Both songs are expected to be a part of his forthcoming EP which is titled “A Picture Perfect Hollywood Heartbreak”.
Listen To Zach Callison’s New Single “Curtain Call” Here:
As we previously mentioned, this single is a completely new direction for Zach Callison. His first single, “War!”, was more of a pop-rock track, whereas “Curtain Call” is more of a deep alternative rock sound which we can’t help but love.
He starts the song off with Psalms 25:11 from the Italian Diodati Bible: “O Signore, per amor del tuo nome, perdonami la mia iniquità… Perciocche ellà e grande”; this translates to: “For the sake of your name, LORD, forgive my iniquity, though it is great.” in English.
It’s quite the mismatch of a song as he comes in full of synth vocals before rocking out and then drawing it back before fully going out. Zach Callison sure knows how to impress with his vocals and ability to embody the lyrics as he sings. It has quite the tranquil backing track. It’s dark and deep showcasing the pain of a young star who is struggling to pick up the pieces of a failed relationship as the world watches his every move.
He ends the song with Revelations 9:6 from the Italian Diodati Bible: “E in que’ giorni gli uomini cercheranno la morte, e non la troveranno; e desidereranno di morire, e la morte fuggirà da loro.”; this translates to: “And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them.” in English.
This song sure strikes a nerve and is relatable to every person in the public eye as well as their fans – because they too will be able to understand where this song is coming from. “Curtain Call” is available to download and stream right now. Zach Callison’s debut EP, “A Picture Perfect Hollywood Heartbreak” is expected to be released later this year.
