Zara Larsson’s ‘Lush Life’ has finally been certified double platinum by the BPI for selling over 1.2 million units in the U.K. alone. This recognition means she’s the first and so far only Swedish act to have a double platinum certified record in the UK.
Globally, the song propelled her to become an international breakthrough, charting top 10 in most european countries. In the United States the single, while only peaking at #75, still sold over 1 million copies (thus giving the singer her first platinum hit in the states).
‘Lush Life’ gained numerous vocal comparisons to Barbadian singer/songwriter Rihanna. In addition, it was praised by media outlets for being a fun pop banger and the songs production was favorably received. The underlying yet subtle synthpop beat made the song one of 2015’s most memorable pop product.
While she didn’t get any Grammy nominations for the upcoming 2017 ceremony, she was able to pick up a best new artist nomination at the 2016 MTV Music Awards.
Larsson also garnered a win at the MTV European Music Awards for Best Push Act!
