When Zayn and Taylor Swift first dropped a track together for the Fifty Shades Darker Soundtrack, fans were shocked at the collaboration. ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ is the perfect song for the upcoming film as it explores what made Christian Grey the man that he is and how Anastasia Steele will play her own cards; making sure their relationship is played out on her terms this time around.
Of course, this sets the stage for romance, drama, and a lot of sultry desperation – which are the exact emotions that ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ brings out in listeners. Christian and Anastasia are brought together by a chemistry that neither of them can escape, but fundamentally, they’re quite different, the second film of the series will certainly explore that more which made it necessary that the song for the film also express that type of feeling.
The video plays on those emotions as Zayn and Taylor destroy parts of hotel rooms and pieces of themselves as they navigate through a story of longing and desire. Set in London on a drizzly night with a dim lit hotel as the location; the ‘I Don’t Wanna Live Forever’ video is definitely one of the best we’ve seen in a long time. It also doesn’t hurt that Zayn looks good doing absolutely anything at all; from getting out of a car to trashing a hotel room; and Taylor is a beauty herself.
