Zayn Malik’s solo career is officially taking off. The former One Direction member has provided his first interview after leaving 1D as well as a teaser video featuring a brand new solo-hit “BEFOUR”.
According to FADER, Zayn will talk “about life as a Muslim pop star, the public scrutiny about his relationships, and the role of family in his rapidly changing life,” as well as “his last morning in the band, exactly why he quit, and what he’s got in mind for his forthcoming solo debut.” Wow.
Zayn has been working with James Ho and said about his forthcoming album “For five—not even for five years, for ten years, this album has been in my brain, and it’s just been there, sat with me, needing to be out.”
Talking about his musical inspiration he said “I listened to a lot of Bollywood being a kid, that influenced the music and the stuff i make a lot. And then as I get older I started listening to RnB and a lot of rap”
“It’s a nice feeling to completely come out of a place where you are being told what to do and what you shouldn’t, just to honour expectation and stuff people want to see” said Zayn. “It’s just my perspective, this is what I want to do.”
