July 2016 is when everything changes; and you’ve got to be ready!
Rejoice Janto fans – John Barrowman and Gareth David-Lloyd are once again working together to reprise their roles as the beloved Captain Jack Harkness and Ianto Jones.
The handsome pair are busy in the studio this week to record ‘Broken’; a new Torchwood audio drama written by Joseph Lidster. Chronologically, the story will be set shortly after the events of ‘Cyberwoman’ – the fourth episode of Torchwood’s first TV series.
The official synopsis for ‘Broken’ is as follows: “Whenever Ianto Jones has a tough day at work, he has somewhere he can hide. And, for Ianto, it’s always a tough day at work.
His girlfriend is dead, his colleagues don’t trust him, and his boss… his boss is something else. With no friends in the world, and his life in danger every day, is it any wonder that at night, Ianto Jones goes to the pub?
Ianto’s local becomes somewhere where he feels safe. Safe from his demons, safe from his life, safe from Torchwood. Until one evening, Captain Jack walks into a bar….”
Since September last year, Big Finish have been releasing an exciting new Torchwood audio adventure every month. ‘Broken’ will be made available in July and you can find more details about Big Finish’s original productions here on their official website.
Whether it’s weekend conventions or online petitions, Torchwood’s fanbase is evidently still going strong and it really is a testament to the quality of the programme.
It’s been nearly five years since a new episode of Torchwood aired on TV but like many, we’re still hoping that it’ll return to our screens one day. In the meantime, why not immerse yourself in the incredible world of Big Finish? You certainly won’t regret it.
