Everyone stop what you’re doing. Today marks thirteen years since the greatest movie of this century was released; surely you already know what I’m talking about? I am, of course, referring to Mean Girls; the cinematic masterpiece which paved the way for future filmmakers and shaped us all into the people we are today. The Mark Waters directed film opened nationwide on this day thirteen years ago and it didn’t take long for the film to become a huge part of a lot of people’s lives. The entire script seems to be ingrained into all of our brains and we could probably recite it backwards whilst standing on our heads. It’s a truly iconic movie which we’re not afraid to admit we’ve watched more times than we’ve had hot dinners.
Okay, so, the fact that Mean Girls has been out for thirteen years does make us feel kinda ancient but that isn’t going to stop us from having a fetch Mean Girls party to celebrate. Let’s be honest, who doesn’t love Mean Girls? It’s one of those films which, once you admit to never watching it, people never truly look at you in the same way again. It’s a timeless classic which introduced us to some of today’s most loved actors such as Amanda Seyfried and Rachel McAdams, and which guarantees us a LOL every time we watch it. I mean, where would we be had this teen comedy not been produced? Candy canes would just be normal Christmas treats, pink would just be a colour and October 3rd would just be a date.
