2015 was the year of Kylie Jenner. You couldn’t go anywhere without seeing or hearing about the 18 year old entrepreneur. Kylie is the youngest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan and has been in the limelight since the age of 8. As social media became more prominent so did Kylie. Some people have strong opinions towards Kylie and the rest of her family but what they can’t deny is the effect that Kylie has made in the last year.
The Lips:
The year started with the craze over the dramatic change of Kylie’s lips. At first, the then 17 year old didn’t speak on the rumors. When asked about her lips she just told her fans that she overdrew her lip liner because it was a big insecurity of hers. This is the first place that we saw the way that Kylie handles the mean Internet trolls. After a couple months of denying the lip injections Kylie decided it would be okay to tell the Internet about how she gets her lips so plump. As a 17-year-old girl at the time who had been ridiculed for her lips took the negativity to let her fans know that if you aren’t a hundred percent happy with something you can change it. The fascination with her lips turned into the Kylie Lip Kit, which came out in December of 2015 and sold out in a minute.
Caitlyn Jenner:
A big part of 2015 was Caitlyn Jenner and Kylie was right by her dad’s side throughout the whole transition. Trans people have been a part of our world way before Caitlyn but Caitlyn was one that we saw transform from Bruce to Caitlyn in the public eye. A reason that the world was so welcoming to Caitlyn was because she is someone who knew but also her family especially Kylie has been supportive since the beginning. Posting pictures of her dad all over her Instagram constantly calling Caitlyn her hero. Kylie’s support of Caitlyn has helped people realize that no matter what when you aren’t truly happy with the person you are you can change it and the people who truly love and care for you won’t be phased by the change you made. Everyone is meant to find what makes them happy and make the changes that they can to get to that place.
KYLIE:
In September of 2015 a month after Kylie turned 18 she came out with an app and so did her sisters Kim, Khloe and Kendall, Kourtney would come out with some a few months later. Kylie’s app was on the number 1 of the iTunes App charts followed by her sisters. To many it was a shock that Kylie was number 1 followed by Kim at second but as Kylie said in an interview with Time Magazine that she just has a younger demographic that put an emphasis on social media and that is a key factor in her success.
There is no denying that 2015 was the year of Kylie Jenner she took everything that she was given and branded herself as more than just Kim Kardashian’s little sister. Kylie has used social media to her advantage and no matter if you’re a Kylie fanatic or you couldn’t be bothered you have to admit that at just 18 years old Kylie has made a name for herself and 2016 will be nothing more than just more successful.
