3 Tips For New Musicians By John Walsh

From playing along with the musical notations to creating his own composition, John Walsh set an example for all the rising musicians. His perspective towards music was that if you have the talent and strength to work hard, then no barrier can stop you from achieving your desired goals. Thus, here are 3 tips from the inspiring journey of John:

  1. Enjoy what you do

The most important step in making amazing art like John’s music is to love the work you are doing. Good music comes out of dedication and enthusiasm. If you are pursuing a career in music solely for the purpose of earning or getting fame, then you won’t last long in the industry. Even if you love the idea of being a musician but don’t enjoy working on it, then eventually you will not be able to give your best to it. As John suggests, “If you love playing the guitar, then play it. If you love writing songs, then write them. If you love singing and playing at the same time, then do both together”

  1. Practice

The famous saying, “practice makes you perfect” fits perfectly when it comes to making music. Even someone with the greatest talent will not be able to make good music if they don’t practice it enough. As John was always very committed to his music, he used to spend hours alone in his studio finding his music style. Even when he felt that he had performed well, he would still keep trying to improve in his spare time. As a result, John got a great grip on understanding his talents and how he could make his work better. He believes that practicing will not only help polish your existing skills but also help musicians develop new ones.

  1. Never lose hope

Every musician has faced a bundle of disappointments in their journey. These include issues like production delays or budgeting issues that may halt the working process. While there are ways to overcome these troubles with the help of a good team, difficulties like criticism and hatred on social media platforms are something that can affect the mental health of an already struggling musician. This dismay can get worse if they don’t have the self confidence to back it up. Thus, John advises to never lose hope in such circumstances. Even though a musician does work to connect with his fans, one negative comment should not disregard all the praises. Therefore, it is very important to know your potential skills and talent so that a single negative does not nullify your efforts..
