As much as everyone loves him as Captain America/Steve Rogers in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris Evans has played a handful of characters before he bagged the notorious role as the world’s first superhero.
Here, we list all of his past movie roles before he became our beloved Captain!
Judd in “The Newcomers” (2000)

Starring as Courtney Docherty’s (played by Kate Bosworth) boyfriend in the family drama movie, it was the first movie role Chris landed after his modelling stint in 1999 for Hasbro’s board game, “Mystery Date”.
Jake Wyler in “Not Another Teen Movie” (2001)

The movie title says it all. In the film, Chris played as the popular jock in John Hughes High in Southern California.
Kyle in “The Perfect Score” (2004)

If you didn’t already know, Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson’s chemistry goes way back before they even played their roles as part of the Avengers.
The movie, which Scarlett and Chris both starred in together, revolves around their characters and four others who are mainly high school students aiming to get a high SAT score to pursue their dreams in college.
Ryan Hewitt in “Cellular” (2004)

In the American action/crime thriller film, Chris played Ryan, who willingly saved a family’s life he didn’t personally know all because of a random phone call.
Bryce Langley in “Fierce People” (2005)

Playing as Kirsten Stewart’s older brother, they were the grandchildren of a billionaire old man who lives in a world full of power and privilege and are also part of a super rich and mysterious tribe.
Syd in “London” (2005)

A film about love, Chris played a lead role as a man who was cheated on by his ex-girlfriend and is in the pursuit to win her back before she moves away to California.
Human Torch/Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four (2005 & 2007)

And here we have the first superhero character that Chris gave life to, the Human Torch! Bagging the role from the Marvel adapted movie, he co-starred with Jessica Alba (Sue Storm/Invisible Woman), Ioan Gruffudd (Reed Richards/Mr Fantastic) and Michael Chiklis (Ben Grimm/The Thing). Chris then continued to reprise the role in the sequel “Fantastic Four: The Rise of the Silver Surfer” which was released in 2007.
Mace in “Sunshine” (2007)

“Sunshine” is an American/British sci/fi thriller directed by Danny Boyle. In the film, Chris played as the engineer who had a military background and family.
Hayden “Harvard Hottie” in “The Nanny Diaries” (2007)

Again, co-starring Scarlett Johansson, Chris stars in the American comedy-drama film as the “Harvard Hottie” who lived in the same building where Annie (Scarlett) was working as a nanny. Soon enough, their characters start dating throughout the rest of the movie.
Detective Paul Diskant in “Street Kings” (2008)

Playing in the action film, Chris was a detective for the LAPD whose mission was to track down gang members and drug syndicates to solve the case of another detective’s death.
Jimmy Dobyne in “The Loss of a Teardrop Diamond” (2008)

The 2008 independent film directed by Jodie Markell is based on Tennessee Williams’ 1957 screenplay. In the film, Chris played a man who came from a poor family. His father was jobless, his mother was admitted into an asylum and he was a heavy drinker in the brink of losing his job until Fisher Willow (Bryce Dallas Howard) offered him a better option in life, that he willingly accepted.
Nick Gant in “Push” (2009)

Starring in another sci/fi film with the lead role, Chris plays Nick, who is a psychic called “Mover” with the determination to take down the organisation “Division” which is responsible for his father’s death.
Jake Jensen in “The Losers” (2010)

As one of the lead characters, Chris stars as the intelligence specialist and hacker in the elite black ops team under the United States Special Forces. Their team was sent to Bolivia on a mission to take out a compound run by a drug lord. But comprimising their mission was the mysterious Max (Jason Patric) who set the whole team up, killing 25 innocent children in the process that lead “the Losers” to be stranded in Bolivia. Later on, Aisha (Zoe Saldana) offers them an opportunity to take out Max and eventually live their life in piece back in their countryland.
Lucas Lee in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World” (2010)

In the action-comedy film, Chris was one of the seven evil exes that Ramona Flowers (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) previously dated before she found her new love interest in the main character, Scott Pilgrim (Michael Cera).
Lucas was a skater boy turned into movie star and posseses super strength, who Scott had to kill in order to have Ramona’s love.
Michael David ‘Mike’ Weiss in “Puncture” (2011)

Chris starred in the independent film as a lawyer who had drug addictions, solving a case involving a local ER nurse, Vicky (Vinessa Shaw), who was punctured by a contaminated needle.
After all these 15 roles, Chris landed his first Captain America role in “Captain America: The First Avenger” which was released in 2011. His contract with Marvel will continue on until 2017 and Chris stated that he would be willing to extend the agreement if Marvel wanted him to continue portraying Steve Rogers.
Other than his movies in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Chris also played a couple more roles outside the superhero costume in the films “What’s Your Number?” as Colin Shea, “The Iceman” as Mr. Freezy, “Snowpiercer” as Curtis Everett and “Before We Go” which he co-directed and produced, and starred as Nick Vaughan.
Chris also played a couple of voice roles for animated films “TMNT” in 2007 as Casey Jones and “Battle for Terra” in the same year as Stewart Stanton. He also appeared in a shortfilm “The Paper Boy“ as Ben Harris in 2003.
