Let’s give a big round of applause to the biggest girl groups of the decade for landing a spot on Rolling Stone’s Best 20 Pop Albums of the year list!
We totally understand why these two albums (Reflection and Get Weird) attained their respective recognition as some of the best pop albums of the year. Not only did each album possess a killer worldwide single (‘Worth It’ & ‘Black Magic’) but finally broke the girl band curse after a DECADE.
By curse we mean that there hasn’t been any girl power around since forever! But it’s all changed lately, hasn’t it Mixers and Harmonizers? Plus, when was the last time we had a girl group land on a end of year Rolling Stone list? It’s a great nod indeed!
Brittany Spanos called Little Mix’s Get Weird “their most consistently exciting and delightful album to date” while also complimenting the groups’ harmonies.
Regarding ‘Reflection’, she praised the girls’ “incredible vocal ranges” and their sound reminiscent to that of Fergie, Gwen Stefani and Icona Pop. In other words, a refreshing sounding album!
Both girl groups are still working hard on their journeys with Fifth Harmony set to release their sophomore album next year and Little Mix preparing for the 2016 Get Weird World Tour!
So many exciting things in store for these two big girl groups and we couldn’t be more proud of them.
If you’re happy and you know it, tag us @CelebMix and don’t forget to congratulate the girls’ great end-of-year achievements! x
