With Gilmore Girls set to make it’s return thanks to Netflix, we figured it was about time to binge watch the original seven seasons. Gilmore Girls: A Year In The Life hits our Netflix accounts soon and we can’t wait to catch up with the residents of Stars Hollow.
Here’s 5 reasons why you might want to start from the beginning!
1. There’s a young Jared Padaleki to swoon over.
The early 2000’s were a simpler time. Cell phones had aerials and a 19 year old Jared Padaleki had curtains. Ahhh. Questionable hairdo aside, Jared’s character Dean is complete boyfriend goals, not to mention he and Rory’s mum, Lorelai, get on like a house on fire. What more could you want?
P.S. There’s a young Chad Michael Murray I’m there too!
2. Lorelai Gilmore’s humour.
Speaking of Lorelai, the character’s humour carries the show. Never without a witty remark, she’ll leave you chuckling away at her quirks and comebacks. Of course, it isn’t just Lorelai who will give you the giggles. The Independent Inn’s resident concierge, Michel and his hatred for well, everything is hilarious.
3. You get to witness Melissa McCarthy’s early comic talent.
Lorelai’s bestie Sookie St. James is played by the ever funny Melissa McCarthy and you will not be disappointed. As well as being bubbly and lovely, some of the food we see Sookie rustle up in the kitchen of the inn looks amazing. That alone is a good enough reason to binge watch the whole show.
4. It’s one big throwback.
If you’re old enough to have been around when Gilmore Girls first aired, it’ll give you a chance to look back on all things noughties. From fashion, pop culture and technology, the show is a total throwback. And if you’re young enough to have never seen Gilmore Girls before, you’re in for a shock!
5. You get to refresh your memory ready for the revival.
More than anything, we suggest you binge watch to get the scoop on Stars Hollow. You can make your guess on where you think the Gilmore Girls will be in 2016 – it helps to know the ins and outs!
Bonus reason – the theme tune.
Trust us, after an episode or two it will be stuck in your head. But it’s catchy, and great so we’re not complaining!
