2018 has definitely been a great year for musical movies. The Greatest Showman was released at the end of 2017 but has very much dominated a huge part of this year, whilst Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again was one of the highlights of the summer.
However, another big hit was the highly anticipated A Star Is Born. Starring Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper, the movie and its soundtrack has captured hearts across the globe. Arguably the biggest song from the soundtrack is ‘Shallow’, which, since its release has garnered more than 146 million streams on Spotify, and topped the charts in countries including the UK and Australia.
As one of the biggest songs of the year, it’s no surprise that the internet is flooded with artists sharing their take on ‘Shallow’. We’ve scoured YouTube to round up six of our favourite ‘Shallow’ covers for your enjoyment, check them out below.
New Hope Club

Allie Sherlock
Vocal powerhouse Allie Sherlock regularly busks on Grafton Street in Dublin and this performance of ‘Shallow’ is just spellbinding. It’s hard to believe that she is only 13 years old, her vocals are world class.
Curtis T Johns
You may recognise Curtis T Johns from BBC One’s Let It Shine, where he won the competition as part of Five To Five. Whilst he and the guys are currently touring the UK in the musical The Band, Curtis took some time out of his busy schedule to showcase his stunning vocals by recording this beautiful cover of ‘Shallow’.
Lea Michele and Darren Criss
Former Glee stars Lea Michele and Darren Criss have been busy touring the US with their LM/DC tour, and ‘Shallow’ featured on their setlist. It’s definitely a song which would have been covered on Glee if the show was still running, so we couldn’t be more delighted to hear Lea and Darren’s striking version.
Lewis Capaldi
‘Grace’ singer Lewis Capaldi made his Radio 1 Live Lounge debut last week and ‘Shallow’ happened to be his choice of cover. The song suits his phenomenal voice perfectly, particularly during the powerful and gritty chorus.
Cimorelli
The Cimorelli sisters, Christina, Katherine, Lisa, Amy, Lauren, and Dani, recently shared their version of ‘Shallow’ and it’s nothing short of breathtaking. The vocal arrangements and harmonies are captivating, whilst the filming of the video itself adds to the beauty of the cover.
