Tomb Raider, the first thought that hits the mind is, of course, the game. Many millennials aren’t aware of the fact that the movie was inspired by the game and it’s not the other way around. There have been versions after versions and the character still stands for its strength and ferociousness in our minds.
Let’s see what the latest Tomb Raider holds.
A lot of changes in the character
Lara Croft is mostly picturised as some women who are matured in looks and gestures. But this version has a young Lara Croft who can perform the same level of daring actions and stunts. There is a backbreaking scene, yeah, I understand, every Lara Croft movie is filled with that, but this scene has some serious mercenaries trying to kill her and the best part she combats them with the help of one of the ancient weapons known to mankind – bow and arrow.
The crew
The movie is directed by Roar Uthaug who’s previous movie The Wave was a massive hit in Norway. The screenplay was written by Geneva Robertson-Dworet and Alastair Siddons. Graham King produced the movie and the music is done by Tom Holkenborg. The Oscar award winner Alicia Vikander has done the main role along with other famous actors including Dominic West, Walton Goggins, Daniel Wu and Kristin Scott Thomas.
The exhilarating scenes
The bicycle race which was shot in London surely makes the audience to come to the edge of their seat. The bike stunts give an impression of the 90’s time. This Lara Croft works as a sort of a food delivery agent after refusing to take care of a big fortune of her dad. The first adventure of the protagonist takes place in Hong Kong and then one leading to another she lands upon a situation which demands her to go straight into a storm. She reaches an island where the mercenaries try to misuse her father’s research.
The one major uplift in the movie is the realistic acting of Vikander. Her intense reactions during the fight scenes make the movie immersive. But the CG in some places is very disappointing. The previous Tomb Raider movie made use of more of real sets instead of CG. That was because the director wanted the scenes to look real. In the latest movie, there is a scene where the brave woman falls from great height and rolls and starts running. The transition from the CG Lara to real Lara is clearly noticeable.
From movie to game
The game is based on the game Tomb Raider by Crystal Dynamics. The game was a huge sensation due to its adventurous and intriguing gameplay. Tomb Raider has been a been inspiration for numerous movies and games including the online slot games. People can play Lara Croft themed slot games on Monster online casino and can also have the chance to make money while having fun.
Overall, the movie has mixed reviews and it has few extraordinary action sequences. Since the cast crew involved a bunch of experienced actors, the performances had no defect.
