AFTERDRIVE Find Something Rare on New Single ‘Jewellery’

AFTERDRIVE aren’t interested in blending in. On ‘Jewellery’, the latest single from the British four-piece, the band zero in on the magnetic pull of someone who refuses to move with the crowd – the person who walks into a room and somehow owns it without trying.

It’s a fitting subject for a band carving out their own space in the alt-pop and pop-rock landscape.

Following the breakout momentum of anthems including ‘Fashion’ and ‘Neon View’, AFTERDRIVE return with ‘Jewellery’, their first new release since announcing their debut ‘Dress To Drive’ EP and a run of UK headline dates. Produced and mixed alongside Thomas Mitchener (Pixie Lott), the track finds the band chasing that elusive feeling of encountering someone who seems completely out of step with everything – and therefore impossible to ignore.

“The song is about crossing paths with someone who’s not like anybody in this time or era of your life,” the group explain. “Someone who is complex in the way that you don’t understand why they are different – they stand out without trying, they have their own vibe and confidence and don’t follow what everyone else is doing.”

That idea of rarity is at the centre of ‘Jewellery’. The song isn’t simply about attraction; it’s about the intrigue of meeting someone whose energy cuts through the ordinary. In a world increasingly obsessed with fitting in, AFTERDRIVE are drawn to the opposite: individuality without performance, confidence without the need for approval.

“It’s about being pulled in by someone rare who has a real, genuine energy that cuts through all the sameness,” the band add.

The timing couldn’t be better. ‘Jewellery’ arrives as AFTERDRIVE prepare to take the ‘Dress To Drive’ era from streaming platforms to the stage, beginning with a hometown headline at Baths in Ipswich on September 19th. The quartet will then hit Manchester on October 23rd, Birmingham on October 24th and London on October 27th.

Tickets for all shows are on sale now. Check out the full list of dates below:

For AFTERDRIVE, the road ahead is starting to look increasingly busy. But if ‘Fashion’, ‘Neon View’ and now ‘Jewellery’ are any indication, this is a band with little interest in following someone else’s route. They’re building their own – one hook, riff and restless pop-rock anthem at a time.

‘Jewellery’ is available to stream/downloaded now here.
