UK soul singer Decosta Boyce is influenced by artists including Prince, Funkadelic, and many more. And the smooth British rising star is gearing up for the release of his new album ‘Electrick Soul’.

Speaking about the album, Decosta Boyce says: “It’s been a long time coming, but I am really proud of this album. I hope it connects with everyone in these uncertain times. I want my music to transport people to an uplifting, carefree place, bringing back a happy nostalgic feeling. I’ve taken all my experience and influences – with tracks such as ‘Id Do Anything’, a happy love song about doing right by your girl, and ‘Good Music’, a message about people digging down deep to find good music, rather than just being sheep, and buying what’s in front of them – and turned them into ‘Elecktrick Soul’ ”

After listening to the album it’s clear that Boyce has succeeded in everything he set out to. His smooth vocals have shades of Prince, Aston Merrygold, and even a touch of Rebecca Ferguson. Every song is beautifully written and Decosta has certainly put himself on the map as the next big soul star.

The standout track on the ‘Elecktrick Soul’ album is the toe-tapping ‘No Holding Back’, it has an infectious soul/jazz chorus and a 50s vibe. It’s a really fantastic track and one that you would choose to play to any hesitant soul listeners.

Another standout is the funky ‘Givi2Me’, it showcases another side to Decosta Boyce, and is a really cool song. ‘I Can Already Tell’ is another standout.

Overall it’s a really classic soul album with dashes of jazz, it’s in keeping with the old-style soul, but there is a also a modern twist. It’s a great LP and Boyce’s vocals are very soothing.

The full ‘Elecktrick Soul’ tracklisting is as follows:

No Holding Back (feat. Stepanie Sounds)
