Singer and Strictly Come Dancing 2017 finalist Alexandra Burke has confirmed that she is engaged to her boyfriend Joshua Ginnelly.
Whilst some eagle eyed fans had guessed the happy news, Alexandra took to Instagram earlier today to tell all. The songstress revealed that the proposal happened in Paris on December 18, however, the couple decided to keep the news to themselves for a little while.
Sharing a photo of her hand with ‘I said yes’ written on it, in addition to the stunning ring, Alexandra said: “18-12-17 I said YES! Smiling as I type this because it was the best day ever in Paris and so unexpected. My soul mate and my love asked me something that I could only have dreamt of. Being in love is one of the most magical feelings life has to offer.”
“So grateful for this amazing man in my life who has supported my family and I through so much. We decided to keep this between us for a while to enjoy this special moment and that’s why we haven’t said anything…”
Alexandra also reflected on the passing of her mum and how she was unable to share the news with her. However, it turns out that she knew about Josh’s plans before she passed away. “Something so amazing honestly felt so overwhelming because there was only one person I wanted to call when it happened. I know she is smiling and very happy for us both – because little did I know she knew about it.”
The singer also thanked those who had already guessed for their messages, whilst finishing her post with a sweet tribute to her fiancé. “For those who guessed and have left such beautiful messages – thank you. Josh is someone who makes me so happy and I’ve never felt this kind of love before.”

Alexandra was recently a runner up on Strictly Come Dancing and will head out on the official live tour later this month with her dance partner Gorka Marquez. It has also been revealed that Alexandra recently signed a new record deal with Decca Records. Her third studio album The Truth Is is due for release on March 9.
