Alicia Keys has yet again taken up a new project. Her new short film “Let Me In” was released on TIDAL earlier today. The news was reported by Entertainment Weekly.

Directed by Jonathan Olinger, the 12-minute film was released on World’s Refugee Day. An American mother, Zara played by Alicia Keys, with her daughter is seen stuck in a war-struck America. The singer, by showing an alternate reality of America, wants people to understand the conditions of refugees.

In a press-release, Alicia Keys said,

I was stunned when I learned that there are more refugees living in the world today than at any other point in history, and half of them are children. Creating this film really allowed us to imagine, what if we were the refugees? What if we were the ones torn from the arms of our families and loved ones? How would it feel if this were happening to us?

    As reported by Entertainment Weekly,

“Keys’ “We Are Here” cultural movement has also partnered with CARE, Oxfam and War Child on a new campaign, including the film, which aims to raise awareness and reinvigorate the conversation around the refugee crisis currently affecting millions around the world.”

The film also includes Keys’ new soundtrack “Hallelujah”, a track she performed on Saturday Night Live  in May. Check out the film here:

In the past few months, we have seen a major refugee crisis in the world. People are fleeing their homeland in pursuit of safe life in a stranger’s land. Humans Of New York covered some heart -breaking stories of refugees trying to start their lives over in the new place. Keys’ short film is emphasizing the point that we need to help these people because we too can be in their place.
