It has all come full circle for Ally Brooke! A Texas native just like Selena Quintanilla, Ally has always looked up to the late singer as a musical inspiration. Now while doing radio promotions for her single “Low Key,” the former Fifth Harmony member made a special stop in Corpus Christi, Texas to visit the Selena Museum, where she met Selena’s sister and father: Suzette and Abraham Quintanilla.
“I don’t even have any words that can describe what this meant to me…today I got to meet Selena’s sister and father,” she said.
Ally wrote that Suzette Quintanilla took her on a tour of the Selena Museum, while Abraham Quintanilla shared stories and videos of the late singer and even brought Ally to the studio where his daughter recorded the hit, “Dreaming of You.”
“It was one of the most incredible experiences ever. It was beyond special,” she wrote.
What made the occasion even more special is that it marked the 25th anniversary of the release of Amor Prohibido, Selena Quintanilla’s fourth album originally released on March 13th, 1994.
The event also joins a string of Selena tributes that have been happening recently, including Kacey Musgraves‘ “Como La Flor” cover at the 2019 Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, as well as Prince Royce’s cover of “No Me Queda Mas” on the 24th anniversary of Selena’s final televised show.
This just goes to show that no matter how much time has passed, Selena will always be remembered as an icon who broke barriers in the music industry.
We are so happy Ally Brooke had a chance to meet the Quintanilla family!
