ALMA continues rise as electropop’s chameleon with ‘Have U Seen Her? (Part I)’

From dancefloor fillers like ‘Chasing Highs’ and ‘Dye My Hair’, to the raspy ballad of ‘Summer’, to biting flicks ‘When I Die’ and ‘Cowboy’, ALMA’s shapeshifting electropop rise continues on ‘Have U Seen Her?’ and ‘Worst Behaviour’.

Taken from the ALMA’s long-anticipated debut album, Have U Seen Her?, the booming vocalist refuses to be pinned down to the chart-climbing singles that saw her break onto the scene in 2017.

Teasing the upcoming record to fans today with a double release, ‘Have U Seen Her?’ hits streaming services alongside Tove Lo collaboration ‘Worst Behaviour’. The former a clanging introduction into the world of “Mrs. Cyber” and the latter powered by a short two and a half minutes of Hitmipulse (Craig David, Felix Jaehn, Blonde) production, it’s another deviation from recent singles.

“When I was younger I hated the feeling of never being listened to and nobody cared about my feelings so I used to escape in my dreams. The same dream would repeat itself over and over, night after night and I’d run away to far off places and imagine starting again. It was a big inspiration for ‘Have U Seen Her?’”

“Worst Behaviour is about the dark state of the world right now – I am incredibly frustrated about who is in power right now and how they choose to behave.  A similar feeling was replicated in my professional life when I was writing this song. I didn’t want any more old-white-men telling me how to express myself. This song is to the leaders of the world, and to those who tried to lead mine at the time. You’ve got it all wrong – and we’re getting mad.”

Having released the stand-alone “breakup banger” ‘Lonely Night‘, stripped-back ‘Summer’, raucous ‘When I Die‘ and anthemic ‘Cowboy‘ over the past 12 months, fans are kept guessing as to exactly how Have U Seen Her? will sound.

Fresh from a lengthy European tour which finishes tomorrow with a homecoming Helsinki show, ALMA also stopped off at London’s Electric Ballroom, Brighton’s Patterns and Manchester’s Academy 2 amongst others. Sets which saw the Finn premiere unreleased material to fans included today’s two new releases.

When not on the road or adding the final touches to her debut record, ALMA has been in the studio with the likes of Miley Cyrus and even lent a hand on the curation of the Charlie’s Angels soundtrack, which also hits streaming services in full today. Later this month the singer heads on tour alongside Christina Aguilera across the U.K. and Ireland.
