Your favourite Cyber-twin, turn cowboy, but permanent pop-disruptor, Alma has released the music video for her latest single, ‘Cowboy’.
Last month CelebMix brought you the news of the Finnish pop star’s latest release, and now there is a visual to accompany the raucous electronic pop track too.
Shot in Alma’s homeland of Finland, and overseen by celebrated Finnish director Miika Lommi, the clip follows the everyday partying of Alma and friends amongst the picturesque Scandinavian landscapes.
“I wanted the video to look like a homemade movie”, Alma has said. “Everything you see is real. Finland and Finnish culture is front and centre. The cast is all my friends. We were shooting for three days and those days were some of the best of my career so far. I think I speak for everyone when I say It didn’t feel like we were working at all. More like shooting a fun documentary of our lives.”
Written with the likes of Justin Tranter (Gwen Stefani, Justin Bieber), Sarah Hudson (Nicki Minaj, Ariana Grande) and produced by BloodPop, ‘Cowboy’ is a breath of fresh air. Alma steps away from her previous boundary-pushing formula to try a new sound ahead of her highly-anticipated 2019 debut album.
Despite the frolicking electronic pop and the chorus’ curses, ‘Cowboy’ is the artist’s most personal effort to date.
“I’ve spent a lot of my life being told who to be, what to say or how to behave by the world. There’s constant pressure on us all to fit in and ‘Cowboy’ is about exactly the opposite. I want my fans to feel like they can be whoever, say whatever and look however when they listen to my music. Here you are accepted no matter what.”
