Fans have awaited the follow up to Anderson .Paak’s 2016 album Malibu which was considered to be his breakout. Oxnard is inspired by .Paak’s hometown which has the same name and this work will complete his beach-themed trilogy of albums.

In terms of the album track list, “Tints” will be featured on Oxnard and “Bubblin” will not.

“Everything we made for Malibu we made from the dirt. We had the bare minimum,” .Paak explained about the album.

He continued to speak about how things have changed over the past two years.

“Now, it’s trying to keep that same mentality, but when you have everything. When you’ve been eating calamari and lobster, when you’ve been going to festivals and playing for 40,000 people. You finally have a tour bus. You have two kids now, and a wife to support. You’re trying to keep the same principles you had when you just had a couch,” he said.

Dr. Dre is the executive producer of Oxnard and has acted as a mentor for .Paak which only makes this album even more highly anticipated than originally. .Paak has also excited fans with his thoughts on this album and through the information about it he has shared so far.

“This is the album I dreamed of making in high school, when I was listening to [Jay-Z]’s The Blueprint, The Game’s The Documentary, and [Kanye West’s] The College Dropout,” .Paak stated in an interview with Rolling Stone.

Oxnard will be available to the general public on Nov. 16.
