It was announced last year, following Andrew Lincoln’s departure, that he would be reprising his role as Rick Grimes, throughout the space of not one, not two, but three movies. A trilogy, some might say.

Yesterday (Friday 19th) at the San Diego Comic Con panel, a brief teaser video as displayed for the fans to see with the video ending with these exciting words; ‘Only in Theatres.’  Instead of being distributed to AMC, the home of the TV series – Universal Pictures will now be distributing the debut, untitled movie, however that is as much as we know so far on the show itself.

We do however, have news on what will be going on behind-the-scenes of the movie, including TWD Chief Content Officer, Scott Gimple, will serve as the movie’s writer. The film is suspected to continue on the story of Rick Grimes, and the short teaser trailer may have just shown us that these movies will be a continuation from his ‘death’. The movie was originally planned to begin production early 2019, however there have been no updates or sightings, therefore we’re unsure on whether this is still the case.
