Anna Odobescu is a Moldovan singer who will be representing Moldova at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest with the song “Stay”.
Born in Dubasari, Transnistria, Odobescu grew up with a passion for music and went on to study at the Pridnestrovian College of Music in Tiraspol before attending the Academy of Music, Theatre and Fine Arts in Chisinau.
In 2016 Odobescu entered Slaviavski Bazaar; a festival for young performers to showcase their musical talent. Over twenty artists competed in the competition, but Odobescu managed to impress the international jury, finishing runner up to Alexey Gross from Belarus. Over the years, the competition has seen winners including Eurovision alumni Donny Montell, Bobi Mojsoski and Alyona Lanskaya.
Earlier this year, Odobescu was one of ten artists selected to compete in O melodie pentru Europa 2019; Moldova’s national selection show for the Eurovision Song Contest. Her performance of “Stay” saw her earn the maximum twelve points from the jury as well as finishing in second place in the televote. This was enough for the singer to win the competition and go on to represent Moldova at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.
