With just a week to go until the release of her highly anticipated debut album, Anne-Marie has treated fans to a brand new track called ‘2002’.
The release comes after a bit of pestering from friend, collaborator and tour buddy Ed Sheeran. The ‘Shape of You’ singer has been trolling Anne-Marie on Instagram for the past week, urging her to leak the track and lo and behold, she’s finally caved in and we couldn’t be happier.

‘2002’ is co-written by Anne-Marie and Ed, as well as an additional trio of prolific songwriters: Julia Michaels, Benny Blanco, and Steve Mac (who is also on production duties). Talk about the ultimate dream team!
After reading that writing line up, we’re sure that you’ve got high hopes for ‘2002’ and you’d be right to. Not only is the song a catchy offering which reminisces about falling in love, but it has an incredibly clever chorus which references some of our favourite early 00’s songs.
Oops I got 99 problems singing bye, bye, bye
Hold up, if you wanna go and take a ride with me
Better hit me, baby, one more time
Paint a picture for you and me
Of the days when we were young
Singing at the top of both our lungs
From Jay-Z to N-Sync, Nelly to Britney, we’re certainly basking in nostalgia right now. ‘2002’ is definitely up there as one of our favourite Anne-Marie songs yet, and we’re not the only ones who are enjoying the bop.
Fans across the world have been sharing their love for the track by tweeting throwback pictures of themselves from 2002 to the songstress.

‘2002’ is taken from Anne-Marie’s forthcoming debut album, Speak Your Mind, due for release on April 27. Alongside ‘2002’, the album will include her solo singles ‘Ciao Adios’, ‘Alarm’, and ‘Heavy’, in addition to her current smash hit, the Marshmello collaboration ‘FRIENDS’. ‘Rockabye’, Anne-Marie’s number one hit with Clean Bandit and Sean Paul, will make an appearance on the deluxe edition of the album.
