Anne-Marie isn’t here for polite post-breakup ballads—and her latest 2-track project Act II: If You’re Looking For A Reason To Key Your Ex’s Car proves it. Dropped April 11 via Warner Records, the British pop powerhouse takes a blowtorch to exes, regrets, and any lingering heartbreak.
This is the second installment in her ongoing “If You’re Looking For…” series (which kicked off in February with Act I: If You’re Looking For A New Best Friend), and while the first act leaned into friendship and cheeky freedom, Act II is pure chaos—but make it cathartic.
The lead single “That’s What You Get” is a guitar-laced, emotionally charged anthem that hits like a late-night voicemail you shouldn’t send but absolutely would. Produced by Mojam (known for work with Sam Smith and Emeli Sandé), the track channels the raw fury and twisted hope of wanting karma to come knocking on your ex’s door and experience the consequences of their actions.
Meanwhile, “Knock Knock” is even more unfiltered. A punchy, high-tempo track laced with sardonic humour, it closes the emotional loop with a chorus that hits like a slap: “Knock knock, who’s there? / Well, I don’t f**king care.” Co-written with RoxSam Brennan and produced by Billen Ted, it’s Anne-Marie at her most unapologetic self!
In her own words: “The only good thing about being mugged off in relationships is being able to write songs about it,” she says. “So here’s to all the things we wish we could’ve said to our ex’s that we didn’t get the chance to say.”
Where Act I gave us the sass (“I Don’t Like Your Boyfriend” went viral for a reason, amassing over 5 million streams and 171 million views across socials), Act II offers the emotional grenade. The accompanying visuals match the mood—stripped down, feral, and tongue-in-cheek all at once. This isn’t just a heartbreak project. It’s Anne-Marie throwing the first punch in a fight pop music has been too polite to pick lately.
