Last night (May 1), Ariana Grande joined Jimmy Fallon to co-host The Tonight Show. In addition to performing and taking part in some challenges, the vocal powerhouse spilled ALL the tea about her highly anticipated fourth studio album.
Ariana announced that her brand new album will be called Sweetener, and is due for release later this summer. Speaking to Jimmy about the album title, she said: “It’s kind of about bringing light to a situation or to someone’s life, or about somebody that brings light to your life, or sweetening the situation.”
In terms of tracklist, Ariana also revealed a few of the forthcoming song titles. In addition to ‘No Tears Left to Cry’, the album will include the previously announced ‘R.E.M’, ‘The Light Is Coming’, opening track ‘Raindrops’, and her Nonna’s favourite, ‘God Is A Woman’. As spotted by some eagle eyed fans, Ariana confirmed that part of the tracklist appears in the music video for ‘No Tears Left To Cry’.
If that wasn’t enough, Ariana also let slip that she will be doing “something special” on the 20th of each month running up to the album’s release. The first special thing will be opening the Billboard Music Awards on May 20. She also said, “It’s only like three 20ths until the big thing… aah, I just told you when it is”, which has left fans guessing that perhaps Sweetener will drop on July 20th.

Whilst we patiently await the release of Sweetener, Ariana is already breaking records with her new era of music. The album’s lead single ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ debuted at number three on the Billboard Hot 100 chart this week, becoming Ariana’s fourth lead single to debut in the top 10.
This means that she is the first artist to launch four album campaigns with top 10 debuts. In fact, Ariana breaks her own record as no other artist in the Billboard Hot 100’s 60 year history has achieved this incredible feat.
