Ariana & The Rose are back with a brand new double-A side single, made up of ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ and ‘Dirty Dancing’.
The double-A side single was premiered with V Magazine and once again, Ariana’s music channels a groovy transmission of left field synth-pop with an electronic hue that fuses the old with the new.
On her music, Ariana told V, “The songs are very visual. I love listening to lyrics that paint pictures, so I push myself to write that way as well.” Ariana lets her lyrics do the talking, which is perhaps why ‘Survival Of The Fittest’ has been accompanied by a simple yet effective music video. The visual sees her dancing in the dark, surrounded by cosmic lights. Whilst the concept is mesmerising, it also allows the listener to truly engage with the powerful lyrics.

Cause the good go down the quickest
Just survival of the fittest”
‘Survival Of The Fittest’ is full of emotive lyrics and it’s hard not to get sucked in to the story told by Ariana. Take a listen below.
On the other hand, the second A-side ‘Dirty Dancing’ is a lot more playful. Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Ariana told V that the song “is most literally about breaking up with someone in a roller disco. I love matching a bit of playfulness with heartbreak, you have to laugh through it somehow.”
In fact, in a previous interview with Spindle, she called ‘Dirty Dancing’ “a bit of a confessional song, which I’ve never really written before. I had behaved quite badly in a relationship and never really acknowledged it. This song serves as my apology for it, which on a personal note makes me quite nervous to put out but I don’t know if the person will realize it’s for them.” It’s refreshing to see an artist take a different approach when writing a song, and combined with her signature sound, Ariana has once again delivered a song which holds you spellbound.

Ariana & The Rose’s double-A side tracks are a diverse pairing of innovative yet heartfelt synth anthems, created in close collaboration with London-based producer Tom Fuller (Patrick Wolf, Will Joseph Cook). Both tracks are hooky yet intriguing, and one thing’s for sure – Ariana knows how to capture her audience with hypnotizing lyrics and synth beats.
2016 has been an incredible year for Ariana so far. Not only has she toured the UK and the US, supporting incredible artists such as Jack Garratt, Wolf Gang and Foxes, but Ariana has also put a focus on creating music that truly represents herself. Her sound can be compared to a fusion of Kate Bush and Robyn, although Ariana’s not afraid to stick to her own vision too. Her infectious beats, visual aesthetics and lyrics from the heart are a sure recipe for success.
With a promise of more new music to come during the summer, we can’t wait to see what else Ariana & The Rose will deliver.
