This Artist 101 guide contains everything you need to know about Latvia’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Carousel.

    Who is Carousel?

Carousel is an indie pop band formed in 2015 who won Latvia’s national selection show “Supernova 2019”. They will be representing their country at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel with their song “That Night”.

The quartet consists of singer Sabine Žuga and guitarist Marcis Vasilevskis, with the addition of Stanislavs Judins on double bass and drummer Mareks Logins. Sabine and Marcis established the band as a duo and began everything by performing covers. Later, they started creating their own music, and were first introduced to the wider audience in 2018, participating in the concert show “Pasaka ziem?”.

    When are their birthdays?

    Sabine’s birthday is on December 7, 1988.

Marcis’ birthday is on February 16, 1987.

Stanislavs’ birthday is on March 28, 1984.

    Mareks’ birthday is unknown.

What is their most popular song?

To date, their competing entry for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest “That Night”, a debut song from their upcoming album is their most popular number,

“That Night” is a very laid back number, a “vintage, stripped back, romantic track” which also marks the singer Sabine’s debut as a songwriter. The song is about the night her beloved left her. It is also composed by the members of Carousel.

    Where can you follow them?

Carousel can be found on Facebook, Instagram, and you can listen to their songs on Spotify.
