Koit’s music career began in 1994 when he was a member of pop duo Code One. The duo had a string of hits before their split in 1998. In the same year, Koit represented Estonia at the Eurovision Song Contest which was held in Birmingham, UK. He finished in twelfth place after performing the song ‘Mere lapsed’.
In addition to this, in 2007 Koit won the second season of Tantsud tähtedega (the Estonian version of Dancing With The Stars) with his partner Kertu Tänav. His debut album Kaugele siit (which translates to Far from Here) was released in 2010.
As well as his music career, Koit has also starred in many musicals over the years. These include Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, West Side Story and Rent. Later this year he will be starring as Jean Valjean in Les Misérables in the Vanemuine theatre in Estonia.
This year, Koit returned to Eurovision entering Eesti Laul (Estonia’s national selection to select a representative for Eurovision) alongside Laura Põldvere. They won the contest with their song ‘Verona’ and will, therefore, be heading off to Kyiv to represent Estonia at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
