What else should I know about Sergey Lazarev?

He was born in Moscow and started acting and singing when he was just a child. He later went on the become one-half of the Russian duo SMASH!! alongside Vlad Topalov. The duo went on to have moderate success in the early 00’s with the release of three albums before parting ways. Prior to the formation of the duo, they were in the child group Neposedy as well as internationally-known duo t.A.T.u.

In 2005, Sergey Lazarev started his solo career, with the release of his debut album Don’t Be Fake. He has gone on to release another five studio albums, two compilation albums, two remix albums, and a whole host of singles.

Come 2008, Sergey Lazarev attempted to represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest by entering their national selection show. He entered with a song titled “The Flyer”. He came fourth overall. From there, he started to build up his international career by releasing more new music, a few collaborations, and performing around the world.

In 2015 he was internally selected to represent Russia at the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 with the song “You Are The Only One”. The music video is interactively impressive and he went on to impress the viewers at home by climbing a wall during his performance which saw him become the Televote’s winner, however, he didn’t gain enough points from the Jury vote and so he placed third overall with 491 points.

Since Eurovision, he has been building up his career by releasing more new music including an epic collaboration with Dima Bilan – who won the Eurovision Song Contest 2008 with the song “Believe”, and by touring. This all led him to him being announced as Russia’s representative for the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest. His song is titled “Scream”, the question is, will he win it this time around?
