Absolutely Fabulous darling! Dame Joanna Lumley has been confirmed as the UK jury spokesperson for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest.
The news was announced on The One Show last night (May 3), with Graham Norton confirming that the multi-award winning actress will be delivering the results of the UK’s National Jury live during the Grand Final on Saturday 11 May 2024.
Speaking about her exciting new role, Joanna said: “Good Evening Malmö, it’s Joanna here! I am delighted to be announcing the jury vote for the UK at this year’s Eurovision. It’s such a fabulous honour to give the iconic ‘douze points’!”
National treasure Joanna follows in the illustrious footsteps of previous spokespeople including Catherine Tate, AJ Odudu, Amanda Holden, Nigella Lawson, Mel Giedroyc, and Richard Osman.
Years and Years star Olly Alexander will be representing the UK at this year’s Eurovision with his mesmerising track ‘Dizzy’. The star is currently in rehearsals for the show, with his upcoming performance being described as Olly transporting “viewers into a post- apocalyptic dystopian boxing gym locker room, aboard a spaceship hurtling toward Earth through a black hole in 1985” according to Eurovoix.
Olly has also been ramping up the Eurovision promo in different ways, with a guest appearance on Eastenders, reading a CBeebies Bedtime Story, and being awarded a coveted Gold Blue Peter Badge.
See Olly Alexander perform and Joanna Lumley deliver the results of the UK National Jury live during the Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, Saturday 11 May from 8pm (BST) on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
