SunStroke Project are a Moldovan band made up of three members. They are best known for their connection and history with The Eurovision Song Contest. Back in 2009, the band entered Moldova’s pre selection for Eurovision and placed third with their song ‘No Crime’. They then returned the next year, alongside Olia Tira, and won Moldova’s national selection with the song ‘Run Away’. They represented Moldova at the 2010 Eurovision Song Contest in Norway and finished in twenty-second place. ‘Run Away’ was a catchy, up-tempo song and the band became known for their ‘epic sax guy’.
In addition to this, the band tried to represent Moldova both in 2012 and 2015, but failed to win the pre selections. In 2017, however, they came back with a catchy track called ‘Hey Mamma!’ and won Moldova’s national selection. Therefore, they will be heading off to Kyiv in May to represent Moldova at the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest.
