This Artist 101 guide contains everything you need to know about Poland’s representative for the Eurovision Song Contest 2019 in Tel Aviv, Tulia.
Who is Tulia?
Tulia is a Polish four-piece folk music group formed in 2017 who were chosen by Polish state TV broadcaster TVP to represent their country at the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest in Tel Aviv, Israel with their song, “Pali si? (Fire of Love)”.
The quartet, consisting of singers Patrycja Nowicka, Dominika Siepka, Joanna Sinkiewicz and Tulia Biczak, became well known for combining a traditional Eastern European style with modern music. They were first recognized for their cover of Depeche Mode’s “Enjoy the Silence” and Metallica’s “Nothing Else Matters”.
Perhaps they haven’t been in the music industry for a very long time, but still, they have already achieved big things, starting with performing at the prestigious FRYDERYKI 2018 gala, which is literally the Polish equivalent of the BRIT Awards, winning all three awards during the oldest and most important Polish Song Festival in Opole, appearing at countless festivals and receiving a platinum award for their debut album called “Tulia”, after playing their very first tour – which was sold-out.
