British born Mahalia Burkmar, who dropped her last name to create her stage name Mahalia, has the voice, soul and talent to carry herself to global success.
The Leicester born rising R and B star is no stranger to the music industry as she wrote her first song at just eight years old and signed to major record label Atlantic Records at the age of thirteen. She has perfected her craft to become somewhat of an industry veteran at the age of 20.
Whilst she has released various projects since signing with her record label including her debut album ‘Diary of Me’ back in 2016 and EPs such as ‘Never Change’ prior to that, Mahalia’s first viral breakthrough moment came about following her stunning performance on COLORS.
The performance of her 2017 released single ‘Sober’, which has racked up over 15 million views on YouTube, became a significant turning point in her career as it truly ignited the well-deserved hype around her name. This rightfully continued amongst her biggest follow up singles, with the notably sassy “No Reply” and recently released ode to her past lover “I Wish I Missed My Ex” both eluding to the fact there’s no sign of her success ending anytime soon.
A silky smooth voice isn’t the only asset the rising star has as she possesses a confidence within her style. She embodies a ‘wear what you want’ body confident attitude towards fashion which leads her to always looking effortlessly cool. Not to mention her charm and personality which all contribute to the 360 artist and role model she is.
Her latest single ‘I Wish I Missed My Ex’ perfectly injects emotion into the chilled out pleasantly melodic track. The slightly nostalgic sound to the song seamlessly rejuvenates an old school R and B vibe bringing a fresh flavour to please an older generation and more recent generation of music lovers.
