Aston Merrygold is back with his latest solo single, ‘Overboard’.
Produced by SHOEBA and written by Aston, Andrei Mihai, Lil Eddie and Alvin Anthony, ‘Overboard’ is a slick offering which exquisitely blends together elements of throwback R&B, pop and underground UK hip-hop. Aston’s smooth vocals are impeccable over the laidback beat, providing us with some much needed chilled vibes.
Speaking about the track, Aston said: “I’m very excited to be releasing ‘Overboard’. It’s great to have been back in the studio working on new music, and there’s more to come as well! I can’t wait to see you all soon, when it’s safe to do so”.

As well as releasing his new single, this weekend has been jam-packed with Aston content. Not only did the singer turn 33 yesterday (February 13), but he was also unmasked as Robin during The Masked Singer UK grand final.
Over the past eight weeks, Aston has been fooling the judges with his Robin performances thanks to clues linked to football, Ireland and Eastenders. However, loyal JLS fans were quick to identify Aston from the very first episode thanks to his distinct vocals and moves, therefore have patiently been waiting for him to get unmasked ever since.
Best known for being one fourth of JLS, one of pop music’s biggest success stories this century, Aston rose to fame in 2008 when the band finished in second place on The X Factor UK. The band went on to enjoy five number one singles, a further five top 10 singles, five hit albums and sell-out tours before going on hiatus in 2013.
Since then, Aston has remained in the spotlight by carving out a solo career which includes the smash hit ‘Get Stupid’. He also competed on Strictly Come Dancing, was a judge on Got To Dance, and starred in a UK tour and West End residency of Rip It Up the 60s. Most recently, he’s also ventured into acting and stars as the manager of boyband The Wonderland in CBBC drama Almost Never.
With more solo music to come, a second series of Almost Never, plus JLS’ highly anticipated reunion tour which is due to begin in June, we’re going to be seeing a whole lot more of Aston Merrygold during 2021 and we simply cannot wait.
