After watching Avril Lavigne’s latest video, we’re underneath her spell. The stunning songstress has released haunting visuals for her spectacular new single ‘I Fell In Love With The Devil’!
At its heart, ‘I Fell In Love With The Devil’ is a tale of toxic love. With satanic metaphors and angelic vocals, Avril sings about a previous relationship with someone who was more sinister than sincere.
The majestic video, which was directed by Elliot Lester and produced by Chromista, sees Avril eerily drive a hearse carrying her own coffin before entering a graveyard. It’s there where she meets the hellish rogue of this story. From start to finish, the video is a visual masterpiece.
Explaining the inspiration for her new single, Avril said: “I wrote ‘I Fell In Love With The Devil’ as a constant reminder to myself that some of the darkest people in this world can be disguised as angels. It will continue to remind me of my worth and what I deserve as a woman. Sometimes it’s not easy to walk away. But I am so sick of the pain and heartache, and I know what I deserve.
“Please allow my song to be your reminder to not let someone else’s demons take you down. I am now going to break this fucking cycle, bury all the toxic relationships and things people have done to me in the past, PRESENT & future… I will bury the constant heartache and trauma, close the casket and never look back. RIP.”
‘I Fell In Love With The Devil’ is available here on Apple Music and here on Spotify. The explosive track follows Avril’s previous singles: ‘Head Above Water‘, ‘Tell Me It’s Over‘ and ‘Dumb Blonde‘. All four songs feature on her phenomenal sixth album which is on sale now. Read our review here.
We named ‘I Fell In Love With The Devil’ as our favourite song from Avril’s latest record back in February so we’re incredibly happy that an epic video has been released for it. The entire album is brilliant but if there’s going to be another single, we would choose the beautiful ‘It Was In Me‘.
In support of her new material, Avril Lavigne will be hitting the road later this year. You can purchase tickets for the Canadian superstar’s Head Above Water Tour here online. Anyone attending is certainly in for a treat. Shows in other areas of the world will hopefully be announced soon.
