Azealia Banks was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly assaulting a security guard outside a Manhattan nightclub. The rapper was detained and charged for third-degree assault after biting and punching a security guard.
The violent outbursts were provoked after she was denied entry to the club, which was hosting a private party. The rapper proceeded to curse and scream racial slurs to the security, according to witnesses.
The owner of the nightclub was made aware of the scene caused outside and after having recognized the rapper, the owner allowed her to enter the party. However, the rapper didn’t stop there. She once again started yelling at the security and throwing a fit, explaining that she was on Rihanna’s album and making her celebrity status well known to the guards. Security tried to remove her but Banks started spitting on the guard and bit the guard’s breast, causing redness and swelling.
After having threatened to call the police, Banks flagged down a Traffic Enforcement car and once in the presence of the police, she punched the guard again in front of the officer. Onlookers claim Banks wouldn’t stop asking why she was being arrested.
This isn’t the first time Azealia Banks has had problems with security guards. Banks recently got into an altercation with a security guard at a nightclub in Los Angeles. Videos from the incident show Banks engaging in a brawl with a security guard after being asked to leave due to her rowdy and inadequate behavior.
After the incident at the Manhattan nightclub, Banks was arraigned on assault charges and released on her own recognizance.
