Bailey Tomkinson is the latest in a long line of homegrown Country artists taking the UK by storm and next Friday the Derbyshire native will be releasing her brand new single ‘7 Minutes In Heaven’.
The latest offering from the teenage, rising talent is a gorgeous mix of Jewel’s early folk sound with the mainstream Country-Pop styles of Danielle Bradbery and RaeLynn.
Having been born in Derbyshire, the singer/songwriter spent large parts of her childhood in Brussels and Milan and is now living in Cornwall. Speaking of her Country and overall musical influences, Bailey Tomkinson says: “I’ve grown up listening to Taylor Swift so she’s a big influence, obviously very relatable to a teenage girl. But I also admire her for willingness to experiment and innovate with style, that she wanted to expand the ‘box’. I really admire Kacey Musgraves for the same reason. I listen to [Frank] Sinatra. I love John Denver because he’s my Grandad’s favourite. Also Sam Cooke, Madonna, Abba, Cindy Lauper, Jewel….”
And it is thanks to these musical inspirations, and having lived across the world that makes Tomkinson unafraid to test the boundaries: “I guess the thing that living in a different country gives you is the ability to be adaptable and open. It’s an incredible experience because you become very aware of both the differences and the similarities between cultures. On a practical level it makes me a little bit adventurous, if I want to add 80’s synth, for example, to a song then I’m going to try it, I don’t feel constrained by boundaries.”
Fans will be able to download Bailey Tomkinson’s stunning new single ‘7 Minutes In Heaven’ from Friday, March 8th.
