Bella Thorne has opened up about the difficulty of dating when you’re in the public eye.
The actress tells ET, “Dating in Hollywood is literally the worst thing.”
Thorne, who has been in relationships with Gregg Sulkin and Tyler Posey, explains the downside by dating someone who has large fan followings, “people are really crazy on social and, unfortunately, I date people that have girls, like, in love with them,” she says. “They’re, like, really in love with them and they want to kill me. Literally, I was getting death threats, full-on death threats on Twitter.”
The 19-year-old also expresses how ignoring negative comments isn’t easy. “People think it doesn’t hurt but let me tell you, it does hurt,” Thorne says. “It doesn’t feel good to read this sh** about yourself online even when you know it’s not true.”
The former Disney star is currently set to portray the up-and-coming Hollywood actress Paige in Freeform’s new show, Famous in Love. The show premiers April 18 on Freeform.
