Being the most versatile actor we have had a chance to watch, Benedict Cumberbatch never fails to surprise us with his performance. From Sherlock Holmes to Doctor Strange, he’s done it all.
Everyone is aware of Cumberbatch’s history prior to coming into movies as an actor. He’s been a theater performer and has voiced over for documentaries (the infamous Penguin pronunciation). Well, it seems he’s gonna take us back to his BBC days once more.
The actor is set to play Richard III in “The Hollow Crown: The War of Roses”. The Hollow Crown is part of a celebration of the 400th anniversary of Shakespeare’s death. As reported by Mashable India,
“Back in 2012, BBC Two presented the first installment of The Hollow Crown — a splashy adaptation of Shakespeare’s second series of history-based plays. Now the network is following that up with another cycle of TV movies based on Shakespeare’s first series of histories: The War of the Roses, which covers everything from Henry VI to Richard III. Benedict Cumberbatch is set to play the latter.”
The installment’s premier date still hasn’t been revealed.
In the teaser video, Cumberbatch can be seen portraying a shrewd king who is keen on power. There is no one category under which we can posit the actor – the reason why it would be interesting to see him play yet another different role.
We think he’ll nail it! What do you think? Tell us in the comments or tweet @CelebMix .
